2. I swam this weekend while the son had his swim lesson and that was really nice. I miss having a pool nearby.
3. Did you know that there is a quiz that tests your love language? There is even one for kids above 5. Rachel tried it with her son so I decided to try it out with my sons too and it was quite insightful. Click here for all the different assessments.
4. I have a soft spot for twix. It is the toffee and the biscuit and maybe part of it is just nostalgia. Anyway, the husband brought back this limited version! Woo Hoo!
5. A Teaching Moment
My kids slept a little later on Saturday due to the fact that we were working on the cardboard challenge. Today, I let them nap in the afternoon but they were extra grumpy about having to go to church.
We still made our way there with one screaming in the car. I let him scream and cry for a bit but then I put my foot down and told him nicely that he needed to learn to control his emotions. He might be tired but he was not allowed to scream. I wasn't sure if he would listen but he did.
Then my other son grumbled during the service and did not want to go to sunday school. I told him that I understood that he was tired but that he could control his emotions and we would head home immediately after church so he could have an early rest. He went grudgingly but after sunday school, he had a broad smile on his face and was fine.
We chatted later on and he told me that once he reached sunday school, he felt fine. It wasn't an easy afternoon and I was regretting letting them stay up past their bedtime. But on hindsight, sometimes, these moments are useful teaching moments. For that, I am thankful.
