As time goes by, it becomes more important for all of us to take care of our bodies. But with children, especially young ones, it can be hard to find time or motivation to do so. So I asked the Singapore Mom Bloggers, "
How do you make time for exercise in your life?"
I really enjoyed reading the answers from the mummies this week and seeing how they found creative ways to get moving. I hope you are inspired to get moving this week.
1. Zumba Dancing
Angeline says, "I carve out a weeknight to dance together with my husband; it kills 2 birds with one stone: we get a healthy workout and spend some quality time together!"
2. Work out as a Family
Summer says, "The good thing is I have a sporty husband and child, therefore we like to indulge in sports activities as a family on weekends, like swimming or playing badminton. In addition, I'm a Zumba fan and sometimes when my girl is asleep, I sneak out, turn on my Zumba DVD and groove to the beat while no one's watching!
3. Use the Wii
Adeline says, "On days that I am not keeping the house, I spend 15-20 mins doing yoga and strength training with my wii fit instructor! On other days, I spend 45 mins brisk walking in the park."
4. Daily Walks to School
Angeline says, "I carry my baby in a carrier and I push my preschooler in a stroller to and from school each weekday. It takes me 40-50min and it has helped me lose some weight too!"
5. Swim with your kids
Delphine says, "I always spend some time splashing around and playing with my daughter in the pool after her weekly swimming lesson. Oh and I am planning to sign up for a circus aerial arts class that involves doing circus tricks on the elevated trapeze, hoop and silks.
6. Evening Family Walks
Connie says,"I just started my new exercise regime. Twice a week, we take evening walks as a family with my 5 year old and the little girl on the stroller! I even skipped my dinner for this precious tv-less session."
7. Early Morning Jog
Miriam says, "I just started jogging recently. I wake up before everyone awakens and run for 20 mins. It is a good way to clear the mind and I never thought I'd actually love it. These days, I find myself deliberately setting my alarm clock in anticipation of my morning runs."
8. Brisk Walks to the Mall
Natasha says,"I take a brisk walk with the bub in his pram to the mall and back. On days when I'm feeling a little more ambitious, I plonk him in the front carrier to give me the extra weight."
9. Chasing Kids
Jayne says, "My 20 month old is insane. He makes me sprint to chase him, carry his 12kg weight to train my muscles and make my heart pump when he does scary stunts like jump off stools and pick up millipedes from the ground.
I love Jayne's answer. If you can't find time alone, get out together for some fresh air! I'm sure your kids will love it too.
