It's been a little crazy around here so I am a little late in wishing you Merry Christmas.
I cooked Christmas Eve dinner and the kids went crazy opening presents. They weren't the least bit interested in dessert despite there being marshmallows and chocolate fondue. Thankfully, the Gammon Ham turned out right. The 5kg bone in gammon ham that I ordered turned out to be so big, I couldn't fit it in my pot so I cooked it in my oven tray. I also ended up slicing off certain parts and stewed them in another pot. In the end, I was pretty happy with how it turned out. It was tender and sweet and I used the coca cola to make a nice gravy to accompany the ham too. At the last moment, I couldn't find my brown sugar and ended up using my holiday sugar instead. I thought it made the ham look rather festive (check it out in the photo below)! You may notice that I actually forgot to add the cloves in this photo but I did do it the next day.
On Christmas day, we went to church and sang christmas carols and celebrated how Christmas is really about the gift of Jesus to us! Then we made it home for a nap before we headed out for a big Christmas party with the extended family. There is still a lot of merry making planned over the next couple of days so it will be a little quiet over here on the blog but I do have one last post before the end of the year which involves white chocolate and sprinkles so come back soon!
