We are nearing the end of May and I want to share a creative project that I started on instagram last month. I call it Word Art (#250wordart).
The idea was borne out of a desire to start a project that would give room for creative and meaningful expression.
I invited my readers to join me in creating photos of a word or a phrase (be it handwritten, styled using objects, collage, chalkboard, typed, designed or in any other form that you come up with) and to explain the significance of the word in the caption below.
During the month of May, I chose to focus on Mums (#250mums). I shared a little about my mum on my instagram account (@scissorspaperstoneblog). My mum is a great storyteller and always has a story up her sleeve for every occasion. She is also thoughtful, giving, loving, passionate and a whole lot of fun.
Then I asked everyone to join me too.
And they did.
Here's what they said ... about their mums.
There were stories of mums who were tough, colour-blind, gentle and giving.
Some even described their mum-in-laws. Littlebluebottle shared how her mother-in-law was selfless and Colortypesink described hers as supportive.
I didn't get round to styling a photo for my mum-in-law but I am very thankful for her, she is a cool and calm lady who doesn't flinch when things go wrong and is a pillar of strength for the family.
I really enjoyed reading all the different stories and I am sure you will too. There were too many to post them all here so do head over to instagram and search #250wordart and do take your time reading browsing through the entries.
So have you told your mum that you appreciate her? If not, it isn't too late to pick up that phone to call her or text her a message. Maybe even style her a word and tell her how much she means to you : ). Don't forget to tag it with #250wordart!
